Language courses for children aged 5 to 6
For the youngest amongst us who attend a German nursery but would still like to be gently introduced to the English language, we offer multi-sensory language courses for children aged 5 to 6. In a circle, the children play language games, sing English songs, build up their vocabulary using flashcards, listen to stories and practise simple role-plays.
In primary school (Years 1–4), children are encouraged to express themselves in the foreign language through language games, singing, storytelling and role-play.
From Year 2 onwards, children are gently introduced to reading and writing in English.
For Year 4 primary school pupils, we offer a programme specifically tailored to their learning needs, which prepares them – in terms of both content and teaching methods – for their English, French and German lessons in Year 5.

Children learn German through play. A wide range of songs and audiovisual materials help to foster understanding and a love of discovering the German language. The programme is structured around the seasons.

From Year 2 onwards, the children are also gently introduced to writing and reading in English.

The ‘English for Year 4’ course is a programme specifically tailored to the learning styles of Year 4 pupils and gently but systematically prepares the children for the subject content and study techniques required for Year 5 in the trial phase of grammar schools in North Rhine-Westphalia.
